Abstract
Tuberculosis of the breast, first described by Cooper in 1829, is an extremely rare disease. Incidence of this disease is about 0.5% among entire breast diseases in Korea. But it still occurs sporadically throughout the world.
It has generally been accepted that tuberculosis of the breast is more common in women between 20 and 50 years of age, but is rare in males, elderly persons and prepubertal women. The disease is rarely bilateral and sometimes occurs together with
breast
cancer, presenting a difficult diagnostic problem both clinically and on mammography. Thus the clinician may confuse tuberculous mastitis with either carcinoma or peripleural abscess.
Two cases treated recently perhaps justify the reconsideration of this disease. So we report 2 cases of tuberculosis of the breast with review of related literatures.
